Developing Personas

Marketers, designers and engineers use Personas to build great products that people will use by empathizing with who they are. 

I've found that developing personas can be an extremely valuable exercise and they can help you better communicate with and market to your ideal customers. 

What Are Personas?

A persona is a representation or profile of a user and they help give you context about your target audience and ideal customer. Personas use demographics, psychographics, motivations and intentions and they help you connect with your users as people. 

When you have clearly defined personas, you can find the people that you want to align your brand with. It will inform every decision you make -- from product to design to marketing. Everything you do should be in service of supporting your personas.

How To Index Your Site With Search Console

For every new website owner, the question will be the same: "How do I get my website to appear on Google?"

It's a fair question -- sometimes it seems like Google's search-engine-results-pages (SERPs) are updated by magic. In most cases they are, but only after the website's URL has been submitted for a process that is called "Indexing"

Indexing is the process of crawling, storing and ranking your website in search engine results. After you have submitted your URL for index, Google will continually look at (or crawl) your website and update their index to keep their search results fresh, accurate and up-to-date.

Sometimes I gotta pinch myself. The amazing company I work for sent me to Boston to attend #INBOUND16, Hubspot's annual inbound marketing conference.

A Guide To Podcasting Gear

Who doesn't love gear? I'm one of those types of people who loves to drool over new microphones and video cameras or admire someone's recording studio or watch equipment comparison videos. I also love making lists that gather together different tools that you need to complete a project.

Before we get started, I want to tell you not to obsess over your gear when you're starting a podcast. You don't need to go out and spend thousands of dollars to get "the best possible sound quality". You are also under no obligation to listen to people like me when it comes to telling you what gear you should use for you podcast. When it comes to picking and choosing your podcasting equipment, find what works for you. If you didn't want to spend any money at all, you could use a smartphone for recording your podcast. Even NPR reporters have phone interviewees record themselves with a smartphone instead of using the crackly telephone recording in their broadcast. 

What I'm trying to say is; take this guide with a grain of salt. Your gear doesn't matter. It's what you record that does.

Obligatory "New Website" Post

Well.. here it is. My brand-spanking-new Squarespace site. I've been looking forward to getting this up for a long time now and now that I've begun the process of creating the site; I'm feeling more excited than ever.

Since the creation of my first online course, I have definitely been putting off the creation of this site but for good reason. On March 10th, 2016, I married my best friend in the world and I feel more full of life than ever. I feel ready and prepared to take on the world in a way that I ever thought I could.
